How this calculator works

Got a price that already includes GST — MRP sticker, restaurant bill, all-inclusive quote — and need the tax inside? Reverse GST peels the rate out so you see net taxable value and GST amount.

Same maths as inclusive mode on a normal GST calculator.

  1. Choose Remove GST (inclusive) or Add GST (exclusive).
  2. Enter the amount (₹100 – ₹1 Crore).
  3. Enter the GST rate.
  4. Read net, GST, and CGST/SGST/IGST reference — results update live.

Formula

GST = inclusive × rate / (100 + rate)

. net = inclusive − GST. Exclusive mode: GST = amount × rate/100.

Practical use cases

Retailers back-calculating tax from MRP. Freelancers who quoted a round final fee. Buyers checking a vendor’s inclusive price.

Common mistakes

Multiplying inclusive price by 18% — that overstates tax. Mixing slabs on multi-rate bills.

Tips

Reverse each line at its own rate when slabs differ.

Important notes

Not tax advice. Confirm HSN/SAC rates before filing.

FAQs

Exclusive adds tax on a clean base. Reverse starts from an all-in figure and extracts tax.

For intra-state mental models, half of GST as CGST and half as SGST. IGST reference equals total GST.

Reverse each line at its own rate — not the grand total.
